Unity One CU informs: Boo Bash delivers a spooktacular time

Boo Bash 2.jpgFort Worth, Texas— On October 28, a gaggle of ghosts, ghouls and goblins celebrated the beginning of fall at the Northpark YMCA’s annual Boo Bash, sponsored by Unity One Credit Union. The event, which featured a piggy bank workshop, carnival games and Zombie Zumba, was attended by nearly 350 families in the Keller-area.

The highlight of the event, a piggy bank workshop, gave children a hands-on opportunity to dress up and decorate ceramic piggy banks while teaching them the importance of saving.

“Hosting these piggy bank workshops helps take the fear out of banking for children. Teaching them that saving is not only important, but fun, is just one step on the road to a successful financial future.

Unity One is proud to have partnered with the Northpark YMCA for this event and we look forward to hosting more in the communities we serve,” said Alyssa Guillory, director of community and public relations at Unity One Credit Union.

While this year’s event may be over, scary good advice from Unity One is not. The public is invited to meet with one of Unity One’s certified financial counselors to make banking a little less frightful.

Unity One informs: Magic and Mischief at the North Tarrant Branch

Kidtoberfest 1.jpgUnity One Credit Union hosted Kidtoberfest, a day of magic and mischief, on Saturday, October 22, at its North Tarrant branch. The highlight of the event, a magic show by Landon Stark who was featured on PBS and NBC, drew over 500 guests to the branch.

Stark brought all the spectacle and excitement of the big top with a twist of humor all his own. He utilized illusions, circus arts and sideshow performances to bring the stage to life.

Kidtoberfest 2.jpg“This event was a great way to bring the community together to teach them that banking can be fun, even magical at times. We take great pride in serving the communities in which we live and work. This was another great opportunity for us to provide a free family-oriented event for the community,” said Kathy Jones, branch manager at Unity One’s North Tarrant branch.

Attendees were also treated to free grilled cheese from Lee’s Grilled Cheese food truck, a pumpkin patch and decorating station, face painting and balloon animals.

Unity One CU informs: Free Water Safety Classes at the Northpark YMCA

shutterstock_295791938-web.jpgDrowning can happen nearly anywhere with standing water. But, as a parent or caregiver, you can't keep you kids sidelined. You need to equip your children with the tools they need to be confident in and around water so they don't lose out on the health benefits of exercise, the opportunities to bond with family and friends and the sense of accomplishment when they learn new skills.

Teaching children how to be safe around water is not a luxury; it is a necessity. The YMCA's Safety Around Water program can help you make sure they learn essential water safety skills, which can open up a world of possibilities for them.

SAFETY AROUND WATER LESSONS:

Location: Monterra Village (8301 Monterra Blvd., Fort Worth, TX)
When: July 11 - August 4, Tuesday/Thursday
Session 1: 3:45 - 4:15 p.m.
Session 2: 4:15 - 4:45 p.m.

These water safety lessons are free. Please show up 15 minutes before each session. Sessions are limited to the first 18 kids between the ages of 3-13. There will be two sessions per location.
